Kopsavilkums

Aim: Determine the relationship between traumatic chuldbirth experience and the prevalance of generalized anxiety symptoms in the postpartum period. Hypothesis: Traumatic child experiences is associated with higher prevalence of generalized anxiety symptoms in the postpartum period. Study design: Quantitative, non-experimental, comparative correlational cross-sectional study Study methods: in bachelor’s thesis data were collected trough online platform Google Forms. The study sample consisted of 105 women in postpartum period – 63 claimed that their birth experience had not been traumatic, while 42 claimed that their birth experiencce was physically or psychologically traumatic. Two standardized self-assessment scales were used for the study – GAD-7 to assess symptoms of generalized anxiety and WBEQ-B to assess birth experience. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Spearman’s rang correlation ussing IBM SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Coclusions: The study results indicate that 52,4% of postpartum women showed clinically significant symptoms of generalized anxiety during postpartum period. 40% of women reported that they experienced traumatic birth, but Traumatic birth experience was associated with higher level of generalized anxiety symptoms in postpartum period. Content: the bachelor’s thesis consists of 5 chapters, 23 subsections. The volume of the thesis is 53 pages, including 4 figures, 9 tables and 5 appendices.
