Kopsavilkums
This bachelor’s thesis discovers the potential for the Ukrainian brewery ‘Opillia’ to successfully enter and establish a competitive position in the Latvian beer market. The study assesses key aspects of market penetration, including consumer preferences, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape, to develop actionable recommendations for the brewery’s expansion. The research involves a thorough assessment of Opillia’s expansion potential based on traditional internalisation theories and consumer behaviour frameworks, including the Uppsala Model, Porter’s Five Forces, the OLI Paradigm, Rational Choice Theory, and the Engel-Blackwell-Miniard Model. It provides a review of the current EU-Ukraine trade relations under the terms of the Association Agreement, Autonomous Trade Measures, and other special conditions for Ukrainian imports. The practical part includes the Consumer Preference Survey and Blind Degustation Survey and offers deeper insights into Latvian purchasing patterns, market tendencies, and trade dynamics. The main recommendations for Opillia’s market entry strategy focus on Latvian consumers’ patriotism and desire to support their locals, on-trade distribution channel prioritisation, and educational marketing efforts to raise awareness about beer components and production process. The brewery can establish a competitive market position and sustainable success in the Latvian beer market by emphasising its Ukrainian origin, commitment to quality, and traditional brewing methods. The study contributes to the field of international marketing, providing actionable recommendations for Ukrainian companies seeking to expand into the EU market under current geopolitical and economic conditions.
