Kopsavilkums
Pētījumā piedalījās 126 māsas no dažādām Latvijas ārstniecības iestādēm.
Darba apjoms – 47 lapaspuses. Darbā iekļautas 3.tabulas un 4.attēli. Izmantoti 43
literatūras avoti.
Atslēgas vārdi: intensīvās terapijas māsas, miega kvalitāte, darba spējas, maiņu darbs,
PSQI, DSI.
Sleep is an essential component of human health and functioning, particularly in high intensity work environments that demand sustained concentration and physical endurance. Nurses working in intensive care units are frequently exposed to shift work, emotional stress, and physical strain, all of which may affect sleep quality and, consequently, work ability. The aim of this study was to assess sleep quality and its relationship with work ability among nurses employed in intensive care units. The research hypothesis proposed that there is a statistically significant association between sleep quality and work ability among intensive care nurses. Data were collected using a questionnaire composed of three sections: demographic questions, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the Work Ability Index (WAI). A total of 126 nurses from various healthcare institutions across Latvia participated in the study. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and Spearman’s rank correlation, with the JASP statistical software. The results showed that the majority of participants experienced poor sleep quality, while their work ability was most often rated as moderate or good. A statistically significant, moderately negative correlation was found between lower sleep quality and reduced work ability. The thesis consists of 47 pages and includes 3 tables and 4 figures. A total of 43 literature sources were used. Keywords: intensive care nurses, sleep quality, work ability, shift work, PSQI, WAI
