Abstract
Pētījuma mērķis: Izpētīt Kanādas nodarbes veikšanas mērījuma integrēšanas iespējas digitālās terapijas rīkā Vigo Health no ergoterapeitu viedokļa un mērījuma praktiskās lietošanas aspektiem.
Title of the study: Options for integrating the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure into the Vigo Health digital therapy tool. Topicality: Vigo Health is one of the first MedTech companies in Latvia developing digital therapy for stroke patients and providing customized treatment guidance at home through a software application (Epalte et al., 2020). Currently, the digital therapy tool needs to develop an evaluation section that provides generalized information about users and is not based on standardized measurements. The aim of the study: To explore options for integrating the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure into the Vigo Health digital therapy tool from the perspective of occupational therapists and aspects of the practical use of the measurement. The design of the study: Mixed methods design. Participants: 15 stroke patients in the subacute or chronic phase with normal cognition and ten practicing occupational therapists with the experience in working with patients after stroke, Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, Vigo Health digital therapy tool. Procedure and data analysis: Patients’ evaluation with Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. Analysis of the obtained data using descriptive statistical methods - percentage frequency distribution, averages. A focus group discussion with occupational therapists, audio transcription, and analysis of the discussion content based on the deductive content analysis methods by Satu Elo and Heivi Kyngas. Results: 41 difficulties performing activities of daily living were identified among stroke patients, of which 46% were self-care, 44% free time, 10% productivity activities. A summary of the most frequently mentioned activities in the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure was prepared. Proposals were prepared for integrating the measurement into the Vigo Health digital tool by collecting occupational therapists’ opinions. Conclusions: The strengths of the evaluation section of the Vigo Health digital therapy tool are the selection of users and their evaluation capabilities in the home environment; weaknesses – lack of digital skills of the users and occupational performance assessment; threats - users' distrust of a specialist and uncritical assessment of their health condition, lack of standardized assessment tools; options - integrate the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. To perform self-assessment independently, it is necessary to modify the completion of the measurement and the presentation of instructions.
