Ašmanaviča, Krista (2025). Miega kvalitāte dažādos darba režīmos strādājošām māsām un to
ietekmējošie faktori. Bakalaura darbs.

Sleep quality and its affecting factors for nurses working in various shift types. Bachelor’s thesis. Riga, Riga Stradins University. Topicality: Quality of sleep is an essential determinant of health and wellbeing, especially for healthcare professionals. This bachelor's thesis analyzes the sleep quality of nurses working in different shift types and the factors that influence it. Aim of the study: To determine indicators for shift work and sleep quality in nursing practice and the factors affecting them. Hypothesis: H1: Nurses who work 24-hour shifts have worse sleep quality than nurses who work day and night shifts. H2: The most common factors affecting sleep quality are shift work and stress. Method: The study examines sociodemographic data, sleep quality index, and the factors influencing sleep quality. This is a quantitative, non-experimental, retrospective, comparative, cross-sectional study that uses the chi-square/Fisher's exact test for group comparisons. Instrument: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and a sociodemographic questionnaire created by the author. Research results: Indicators of poor sleep quality were observed in 85.29% of cases among nurses working in day shifts, 91.43% of cases among nurses working in night shifts, and 68.75% of cases among nurses working in 24-hour shifts. In general, nurses working 24-hour shifts have better sleep quality than those working day and night shifts. The most common factors affecting sleep quality are shift work and stress. Scope: The thesis consists of 4 chapters and 8 sections, comprising a total of 39 pages. It includes 5 images, 8 tables, and 4 appendices. A total of 52 sources of information were used in the development of the thesis.
