Kopsavilkums

This literature review aims to investigate the clinical success of ceramic veneers based on different types of ceramic materials, incisal preparation designs and adhesive techniques. This review is based on 40 different scientific studies found on the online databases and published during the period 2010 till 2021. Glass ceramic veneers have resulted in high average survival rates of 92,84 % for the 10-year follow-up period and 88,4 % for the 10 - 20 years of follow-up period. The most frequent reported complications are fracture, chipping and debonding. Lithium disilicate veneers have shown to be superior in aesthetics and clinical durability compared to feldspathic and leucite reinforced glass ceramics. Whether ceramic veneers with or without incisal coverage lead to a higher survival rate is still controversial. For the cementation of ceramic veneers thinner than 1.0mm light cured resin composites are recommended, due to their better color stability. However, further long-term clinical trials which include patients with higher risk factors are needed to assess the clinical efficiency of ceramic veneers and the factors related to their clinical success.
