Role of Occupational Factors in Knee Osteoarthritis

Abstract

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a multifactorial degenerative joint disease manifesting as knee pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion as well as structural changes of the knee joint. It is a pathology associated with increased disability, negative impact in quality of life as well as individual and societal economic burden. Timely intervention and preventive measures are key for best prognosis. As there is a correlation of occupational exposure and knee OA, specific focus on risk factor modification is essential.In this literature review our goal was to understand the etiology, pathophysiology, presentation and treatment of knee osteoarthritis as well as explore the relationship between occupational factors and knee osteoarthritis.
