Kopsavilkums
Title of the study: Reliability and validity of the Latvian translation of the children and parent report “PedsQL 3.0 Cerebral Palsy Module” for assessing quality of life in children with Cerebral Palsy aged 8-12 years. Aim of the study: To assess the reliability and validity of the Latvian translation of the quality of life questionnaire “PedsQL 3.0 CP Module” children and parent report for 8-12 years old children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Methods of the study: The research design is quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive. The participants were 15 children with Cerebral Palsy aged 8-12 years and their mothers. The research was carried out in the premises of RC "POGA" and VSIA "BKUS". To assess the reliability of the children's and parents' reports of the Latvian translation of the PedsQL 3.0 CP module, internal consistency, test-retest and Weighted Kappa reliability tests were used. To assess validity, Pearson parametric correlation analysis was used. Instruments of the study: Latvian translation of the children's and parents' reports of the quality-of-life assessment tools "PedsQL 3.0 CP Module" and "KIDSCREEN-52". Study results: The overall internal consistency of the questionnaires showed high to excellent internal consistency for the child (CA= 0.829) and parent reports (CA= 0.968). When evaluated by domain, high to excellent internal consistency was obtained for the parent versions (CA> 0.799) and medium to excellent for the child versions (CA> 0.611). For the children and parent reports, the test-retest showed very high reliability (ICC > 0.9). Weighted Kappa (%) analysis showed that both children and parents had good and very good agreement on all items, except for 3 items where agreement was moderate. Testing for validity with Pearson correlation analysis showed that the parent report of the "PedsQL 3.0 CP Module" has a correlation with the parent version of "KIDSCREEN-52" (p < 0.05) and has high validity, but the opposite was observed for the child versions with no correlation with the “KIDSCREEN-52” (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The reliability of the child and parent reports of the Latvian translation of the “PedsQL 3.0 Cerebral Palsy Module” for assessing quality of life in children with cerebral palsy aged 8-12 years is high, the validity of the parent version is good, but of the child version it’s insufficient. In addition, further research is needed on a larger and more diverse sample, choosing another tool for assessing validity.
