Ultrasound Effect in Fetus

Abstract

Ultraskaņa medicīnā tiek izmantota kopš 1930. gadiem – tā tiek izmantota gan diagnostiskajos, gan arī terapeitiskajos nolūkos. Arī dzemdniecība ultraskaņa tiek izmantota jau vairāk nekā 50 gadus – tā ir ļoti svarīga prenatālā skrīninga metode. Praktiski visas sievietes attīstītajās valstīs izvēlās veikt augļa ultrasonogrāfiju. Ultrasonogrāfijai var būt ietekme uz augli, un tā potenciāli var būt bīstama. Lai gan tas ir plaši izplatīts diagnostiskais instruments, ar lielāko varbūtību, izmantot to grūtniecības sākumā var būt riskanti. Tas ir saistīts ar to, ka šajā laikā periodā notiek nervu caurules slēgšana un organoģenēzes indukcija.Ultrasound was used for medical purposes for the first time in 1930. It can be used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Ultrasound has been used in the obstetric field for around 50 years and is today an essential part of prenatal screening and almost all women in developed countries have chosen to have an ultrasound of their fetus. Ultrasound may have some effect on the fetus, and it can potentially cause harm. Even though it is a widely used diagnostic tool, there still has to be some risk using it in early stages of the pregnancy, because the most sensitive period for the fetus is first trimester - due to the closure of the neural tube and further induction of organogenesis.
