Trigeminālā neiralģija (TN) ir slimība, kas atņem rīcībspēju, tā vēl nav pilnībā izprasta, un tagad, līdz ar COVID-19 sākšanos, mēs redzam TN biežuma pieaugumu pēc COVID-19 infekcijas un vakcinācijas. Šī literatūras apskata mērķis ir izpētīt iespējamos COVID-19 izraisītos TN patoģenēzes mehānismus, izmantojot gadījuma pētījumus un citus literatūras avotus, lai gūtu skaidrāku izpratni par patofizioloģiju un noskaidrotu virzienu, kādā jāveic nākotnes pētījumi. Šis pētījums ļauj secināt, ka TN pēc COVID-19 ir vairāki iespējamie patoģenēzes mehānismi, ieskaitot tiešu virālo kontaktu uz nerviem un autoimūno atbildi, kas noved pie TN. TN pēc COVID infekcijas un vakcinācijas varētu būt līdzīga, izņemot to, ka pacientiem, kas saņēmuši vakcīnu, nav tieša virālā kontakta. Ir secināts, ka pēc vakcinācijas autoimūnā atbilde ir iespējama un ka alfa-CGRP loma varētu būt nozīmīga, un būtu jāpēta tālāk.
Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is an incapacitating disease, which is not fully understood, and now with the inception of COVID-19, we see a growing occurrence of TN after COVID-19 infection and vaccination. This literature review aims to investigate the possible pathogenetic mechanisms of TN induced by COVID-19, using case studies, and other literature sources to gain a clearer understanding of the pathophysiology and to establish in which direction future research should be conducted in. The conclusions made from this research are that TN after COVID-19 seems to have various possible pathogenetic mechanisms including, direct viral contact to nerves, and an autoimmune response leading to TN. TN after COVID infection and vaccination could be similar except there can be no direct viral contact with patients receiving vaccinations. After vaccination it was concluded that an autoimmune response is likely and the role of alpha CGRP could be responsible and should be further researched.
