Workload forecasting in oncology: Applying workload indicators of staffing needs (WISN) tool in chemotherapy

Abstract

This master’s thesis explores the application of the WHO’s Workload Indicators of Staffing Need (WISN) method in forecasting workforce requirements in a chemotherapy department in Latvia. Through mixed-method research, it evaluates the staffing situation for oncologists and nurses, revealing critical shortages. The study provides recommendations to align staffing with workload demands. The findings contribute to improved resource allocation, healthcare quality, and workforce planning in oncology.
