Abstract
Pētījuma izlase izveidota no 84 dažādu specialitāšu ārstiem no dažādiem Latvijas reģioniem. Respondentu vecums no 28 līdz 63 gadiem.
The research topic is "Exploration of Awareness and Attitude Factors in the Addiction Treatment System". The study was conducted with the aim of evaluating and describing the opinions and experiences of doctors and patients regarding addiction treatment methods, as well as receiving recommendations for improving the system from both patients and doctors. The research sample consists of 84 doctors from various specialties in different regions of Latvia, aged 28 to 63 years. The distribution of doctor respondents by gender was 50% male and 50% female. They represented 21 different specialties, with 40% of them being narcologists and psychiatrists. There were 84 patients with addiction problems, aged 18 to 68 years. Of them, 49% were male. In terms of addiction type, there were 48 alcohol addicts (56%), 28 drug addicts (33%), and 15 gambling addicts (14%). The theoretical part of the work is based on the analysis of scientific literature, guidelines, and studies on addiction treatment methods and their effectiveness, as well as the evaluation of possibilities for addiction treatment in accordance with the latest recommendations. Doctor surveys and patient questionnaires were used, which were developed based on current available treatment methods in Latvia. The obtained results indicate that doctors more frequently recommend detoxification as an addiction treatment method (82%), patients more often choose detoxification (44%), which is significantly less than what doctors recommend, and doctors' level of awareness is sufficiently high. However, there is a lack of knowledge (7%) among doctors about rehabilitation communities for addiction users. Doctors also perceive inadequacies in the state-funded addiction treatment program (77%) and identify the need for improvements in the availability of compensable medication for treatment (70%). The research work includes 15 tables, 5 images, and references to 23 literature sources. The volume of the work, excluding references and appendices, is 42 pages, and with appendices, it amounts to 19 pages.
