Kopsavilkums

Pētījuma nosaukums: Jauniešu – viedtālruņa lietotāju informētība par saziņas kakla sindromu un tās radītajām ilgtermiņa komplikācijām. Pētījuma mērķis: Izpētīt jauniešu informētību par saziņas kakla sindromu un tās radītajam ilgtermiņa komplikācijām. Pētījuma metodes: Pētījumā piedalījās 166 dalībnieki vecumā no 18-24 gadiem. Vidējais dalībnieka vecums 21,1 gadi (SN= 1,7). Iekļaušanas kritēriji- jaunieši vecumā no 18-24 gadiem, kuri ikdienā izmanto viedtālruni vismaz vienu gadu.
Title of the study: Awareness of text neck syndrome and its long-term consequences in young-adult population. Aim of the study: To study young-adult awareness of text neck syndrome and its long-term consequences. Study methods: 166 participants aged 18-24 participated in the study. The average participant age was 21.1 years (SD = 1.7). Criteria for inclusion — young people aged 18-24 who have been using smartphone on a daily basis for at least one year. Criteria for exclusion — young people with congenital, abnormal or injury-related neck problems. A self-administered questionnaire on text neck syndrome was used in the study (Samani et al., 2018). Prior to the initiation of the study, a verification of the internal consistency of the questionnaire and a verification of the credibility of the test-re-test was carried out. As part of the study, several universities were invited to take part in, but only three of them responded with written consent, namely Liepaja University, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, and Riga Stradiņš University. Questionnaire forms were sent to the Student Council of the each respective institution of higher education. Liepaja University and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences placed them on their internal information platforms, while Riga Stradiņš University delivered the questionnaire to course leaders of the study year who forwarded the information to the rest of the students. Results: Upon compilation of the results of the study, it was learnt that most young adults, or 90% of the participants, have been using smartphones for more than five years, and 79% of the participants, apart from making phone calls, use smartphone from two to six hours a day, while 16% of the participants use them over six hours a day. Of the 166 participants enrolled in the study, only 21% of the participants had heard of text neck syndrome, and 10% of them knew what the particular syndrome is. More than 50% of the participants had not heard of long-term consequences caused by text neck syndrome. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that the smartphone-using youth lack knowledge of text neck syndrome and the long-term consequences it may cause, but they have been thinking about the impact of smartphone usage on human health.
