Maģistra darbs "Indija un Brazīlija BRICS ietvaros: finanšu reformu izmantošana stratēģisko prioritāšu īstenošanai" analizē, kā divas vadošās Globālo Dienvidu valstis – Indija un Brazīlija – izmanto BRICS finanšu institucionālos mehānismus, īpaši Jauno attīstības banku (NDB), lai īstenotu savas stratēģiskās prioritātes globālās finanšu sistēmas ietvaros. Darba teorētiskais ietvars balstās uz trim starptautisko attiecību teorijām: neoreālismu, atkarības teoriju un Globālo Dienvidu pieeju. Pētījumā tiek salīdzināta Indijas un Brazīlijas stratēģiskā pieeja BRICS formātā, izvērtējot līdzības un atšķirības to attīstības prioritātēs un politiskajās izvēlēs. Empīriskajā daļā analizēti konkrēti NDB projekti abās valstīs un to atbilstība nacionālajiem attīstības mērķiem. Darbs atklāj, ka BRICS institucionālā struktūra kalpo gan kā līdzsvarošanas mehānisms Rietumu dominētajai sistēmai, gan kā alternatīva platforma ekonomiskās suverenitātes stiprināšanai. Secinājumi apliecina, ka BRICS finanšu reformas tiek izmantotas kā instruments valstu stratēģisko mērķu īstenošanai, tomēr ar atšķirīgu intensitāti un ideoloģisko uzstādījumu. Pētījums sniedz ieguldījumu starptautisko attiecību teoriju pielietošanā daudzpusējo institūciju analīzē un palīdz labāk izprast BRICS kā instrumentu globālās pārvaldības transformācijā.
The master's thesis "India and Brazil within the BRICS Framework: The Use of Financial Reforms for the Implementation of Strategic Priorities" analyzes how two leading Global South economies – India and Brazil – utilize BRICS financial institutional mechanisms, particularly the New Development Bank (NDB), to implement their strategic priorities within the global financial system. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on three international relations theories: neorealism, dependency theory, and the Global South perspective. The study compares the strategic approaches of India and Brazil in the context of BRICS, identifying both commonalities and differences in their development goals and political choices. The empirical section examines specific NDB-financed projects in both countries and evaluates their alignment with national development objectives. The research concludes that the BRICS institutional structure functions both as a balancing mechanism against the Western-dominated order and as an alternative platform for enhancing economic sovereignty. The findings confirm that BRICS financial reforms are used as tools for implementing national strategic objectives, albeit with different emphases and ideological orientations. The thesis contributes to the application of international relations theories in the analysis of multilateral institutions and helps to better understand the role of BRICS in transforming global governance.
