Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Treatment Options and their Efficiency

Abstract

Zinātniskā darbā tika noteikti dažādo karpālo kanālu ārstēšanas efektivitātes paņēmienu efektivitāte, pacientu atbildes reakcijas uz saņemto terapijas kursu un efektīvo ārstēšanas metožu kombinācijas. Darba mērķis ir izvērtēt dažādus karpāla kanāla ārstēšanas paņēmienus, to iedarbības principus un iedarbības efektivitāti balstoties uz esošiem zinātniski pierādītiem pētījumiem. Darba gaitā tika izvērtēti 20 dažāda veida zinātniskie pētījumi un to rezultātu iznākumi karpālo kanālu ārstēšanas efektivitātes ziņā, piemēram, randomizēti kontrolēti pētījumi, sistēmiskie pārskati u.c. Pētījumi, kuri bija vecāki par 10 gadiem, tika izslēgti. Analizējot iegūto informāciju, tika secināts, ka vairākām karpālo kanālu ārstēšanas metodēm piemīt augsts pozitīvs ārstniecisks efekts. Tomēr dažām metodēm ir nepieciešami papildus pētījumi, lai pilnvērtīgi pierādītu to ārstēšanas efektivitāti vidusnerva neiropātijas gadījumā.The purpose of this work was to determine the effectiveness of different treatment approaches to carpal tunnel syndrome, how well patients respond to those approaches and in which combinations treatment is even more effective. The aim is to get an overview about different treatment options in case of carpal tunnel syndrome, the way they work, and how efficient they are according to recent studies. For this literature overview a minimum of 20 articles were used, containing randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and their outcomes about different treatment options for carpal tunnel syndrome. Exclusion criteria were inter alia articles that were published more than 10 year ago. The reviewed evidence supports that a number of treatment options are indeed useful in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. It also revealed that a number of options need further studies to truly confirm their usefulness and effectiveness in the management of this neuropathy.
