Kopsavilkums
NATO dalībvalstīm, īpaši ņemot vērā drošības apstākļu būtisku saasināšanos laika posmā no 2022.
anarhiskumu u.c.
The title of this paper is ‘The Role of Joint Military Cooperation in Belarus-Russia Relations’. The relevance of the work is determined by the direct and indirect impact of Belarus-Russia military cooperation on NATO member states, especially in view of the significant aggravation of security conditions in the period 2022-2024. Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Belarus not only actively supported this aggression by giving Russia access to its territory, but also became an increasingly integrated military partner. The working hypothesis is that joint military cooperation between Belarus and Russia plays a key role in the security of the NATO alliance members, posing a potential threat to the security of NATO border states. The first chapter of the thesis provides the theoretical framework of offensive realism. The second chapter of the thesis is a contextual chapter that provides insights into the dynamics of Belarus-Russia relations. The third chapter of the thesis is the empirical chapter, which analyses the impact of Belarus-Russia military cooperation on NATO. The hypothesis that Belarus-Russia military cooperation has a significant impact on NATO members and poses a potential threat to the Eastern flank of the alliance is confirmed. The analysis of empirical data shows that Belarus-Russia cooperation has a significant impact on the security of NATO member states. Although officially Belarus is not directly involved in the Russia-Ukraine war, its territorial, political and logistical involvement makes it an active participant of the conflict, while strengthening Russian-Belarussian military cooperation. There are clear signs of offensive realism in joint Russian-Belarussian military cooperation in the period 2022 2024. The actions of Belarus and Russia are consistent with the characteristics of offensive realism, in particular the pursuit of hegemony and power maximisation, as well as that in some cases aspects point to the characteristics of a security dilemma, international anarchism, etc. are identified.
