Turcijas militāro operāciju Sīrijā atspoguļojums R.T. Erdogana retorikā un tā pielietojums popularitātes vairošanā (2016-2024)

Abstract

Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Turcijas militāro operāciju Sīrijā atspoguļojums R.T. Erdogana retorikā un tā pielietojums popularitātes vairošanā (2016.g.–2024.g.)”. Turcijas militārās operācijas Sīrijā pēdējos gados ir kļuvušas par vienu no centrālajiem politiskajiem tematiem gan Tuvo Austrumu reģionā, gan starptautiskajā politikā kopumā. 2025. gadā, kad Turcija atkal piedraud ar jaunu militāru operāciju Sīrijā, šī tēma nezaudē savu aktualitāti un apliecina, ka Turcijas militārās aktivitātes Sīrijā ir kļuvušas par neatņemamu valsts drošības politikas sastāvdaļu un ieņem centrālu vietu Redžepa Tajipa Erdogana (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan) retorikā. Pētījumā tika izvirzīta hipotēze, ka R.T. Erdogana retorika par Turcijas militārajām operācijām Sīrijā tiek izmantota kā instruments, lai vairotu viņa popularitāti, mobilizējot nacionālistiskas jūtas. Lai pārbaudītu izvirzīto hipotēzi, darbā, izmantojot Turcijas prezidenta oficiālo mājaslapas vietni, tika veikta kvalitatīva R.T. Erdogana runu analīze no 2016. līdz 2024. gadam. Pirmajā nodaļā tika sniegts pārskats par konstruktīvisma teorētisko ietvaru, pievēršoties runas aktiem politiskās realitātes konstruēšanā. Otrajā nodaļā tika sniegts kontekstuāls pārskats par Turcijas iekšpolitiskajām pārmaiņām , nacionālās identitātes elementiem AKP (Taisnības un attīstības partija) politikā un Turcijas militāro operāciju gaitu Sīrijā laika posmā no 2016. līdz 2024. gadam. Trešajā nodaļā tika analizēts, kā Turcijas militārās operācijas Sīrijā tiek atspoguļotas R.T. Erdogana retorikā, un izvērtēta šīs retorikas funkcija kā instruments popularitātes vairošanā Darbā tika secināts, ka R.T. Erdogans aktīvi konstruē politisko realitāti, militārās operācijas pasniedzot kā eksistenciālu izdzīvošanas jautājumu. R.T. Erdogans sistemātiski pozicionēja sevi kā tautas gribas izpildītāju, stiprinot nacionālo vienotības sajūtu sabiedrībā. Lai arī Turcijas militārās operācijas Sīrijā norisinājās galvenokārt no 2016. līdz 2020. gadam, to pieminēšana R.T. Erdogana retorikā saglabājās līdz pat 2024. gadam, tādējādi uzturot ārējā drauda naratīvu arī periodos, kad šīs operācijas nenotika, pieminot panākumus un uzvaras. Rezultātā secināms, ka Turcijas militāro operāciju Sīrijā norise sakrita ar nozīmīgiem vēlēšanu cikliem, kuru laikā R.T. Erdogana retorika par operācijām tika aktīvi izvērsta vēlēšanu kampaņās un uzrunās. Šī retorika un militārās operācijas kalpoja R.T. Erdogana popularitātes vairošanai operāciju norises laikā, tomēr ilgtermiņā ir vērojama popularitātes lejupslīde, kas apliecina šī instrumenta pielietošanu, taču arī tā efektivitātes mazināšanos ilgtermiņā.The topic of the bachelor thesis is "The reflection of Turkey's military operations in Syria in R.T. Erdogan's rhetoric and its application in boosting popularity (2016-2024)". In 2025, when Turkey again threatens a new military operation in Syria, this topic remains relevant and confirms that Turkey's military operations in Syria have become an integral part of the country's security policy and hold a central place in the rhetoric of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The hypothesis of the study is that R.T. Erdogan’s rhetoric concerning Turkey’s military operations in Syria is used as a tool to boost his popularity by mobilizing nationalist sentiments. To test the proposed hypothesis, a qualitative analysis of R.T. Erdogan’s speeches from 2016 to 2024 was conducted using the official website of the President of Turkey. The first chapter provided an overview of constructivist theoretical framework. The second chapter presented a contextual overview of domestic political changes in Turkey, elements of national identity in the policies of the Justice and Development Party, and the course of Turkey’s military operations in Syria during the period from 2016 to 2024. The third chapter analyzed how Turkey’s military operations in Syria are reflected in R.T. Erdogan’s rhetoric and evaluated the function of this rhetoric as a tool for boosting popularity. The thesis concluded that R.T. Erdogan actively constructs political reality by presenting Turkey’s military operations in Syria as a matter of existential survival. R.T. Erdogan systematically positioned himself as the executor of the will of the people, thereby reinforcing a sense of national unity in society. Although Turkey’s military operations in Syria took place mainly from 2016 to 2020, their mention in R.T. Erdogan’s rhetoric continued up to 2024, thus maintaining the narrative of an external threat even during periods without active operations. As a result, it can be concluded that the course of Turkey’s military operations in Syria coincided with significant election cycles during which R.T. Erdogan’s rhetoric about the operations was actively expanded in election campaigns and speeches. This rhetoric and the military operations served to boost R.T. Erdogan’s popularity during the course of the operations; however, in the long term, a decline in popularity is observable, which confirms the application of this instrument but also the diminishing of its effectiveness over time.
