Kopsavilkums
Respondentu vecums bija no 18 līdz 66 gadiem.
Bakalaura darbam izmantotie instrumenti bija Lielā trijnieka perfekcionisma skala The Big Three Perfectionism Scale (BTPS) (Smith, 2016) (Jokste un Kraveca, 2023).
The topic of the bachelor's thesis is The Relationship Between Perfectionism and Professional Burnout Among Teachers. The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between perfectionism and professional burnout in teachers. The first part of the thesis explores the concept of perfectionism, its types and negative characteristics, as well as basic information about the concept of burnout, the relationship between these two constructs, and their prevalence among teachers. In the empirical part of the thesis, all collected data is analyzed. The aim of this research was to explore the relationship between perfectionism and professional burnout among teachers. The research questions focused on: 1) what the relationship between perfectionism and professional burnout among teachers is, and 2) whether different types of perfectionism can predict professional burnout in this population. The total number of respondents was 106, including 83 women (35.85%) and 23 men (21.7%), all working in schools located in Riga and the surrounding areas. The respondents’ age ranged from 18 to 66 years. The instruments used in this bachelor thesis were the Big Three Perfectionism Scale (BTPS) (Smith, 2016), adapted into Latvian by Jokste and Kraveca (2023), and the Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT) (Schaufeli et al., 2020), which was adapted into Latvian by Elvisa Čuhnova in 2022. The results revealed a statistically significant relationship between perfectionism and burnout, indicating that perfectionism is closely linked to professional burnout among teachers. Furthermore, the findings showed that the type of perfectionism that most strongly predicts burnout is self-critical perfectionism (α = 0.95).
