Kopsavilkums

Title of the Thesis - Evaluation of Physical Activity Levels in Children with Cerebral Palsy Research Hypothesis: Children with GMFCS levels III, IV, and V have significantly lower levels of physical activity in daily life compared to children without cerebral palsy. Research Objective: To study the level of physical activity in relation to GMFCS levels and types of cerebral palsy, and to compare the results with children without cerebral palsy. Research Tasks: 1. Evaluate physical activity using the Children’s Physical Activity Questionnaire (CPAQ) and a physical activity diary. 2. Analyze the differences between physical activity levels, GMFCS levels, and the type of cerebral palsy. 3. Compare the results of the control group with the results of the study. Conclusions 1. Children with cerebral palsy, especially those with GMFCS levels I–II, can achieve comparable levels of physical activity to their peers without functional limitations. However, children with higher levels of functional impairment require a supportive and adapted environment to facilitate participation and physical activity. 2. The level of physical activity is influenced by both the type of cerebral palsy and the GMFCS level—children with lower GMFCS levels perform more activities, and vice versa. Age does not significantly affect the amount of physical activity. 3. The control group is more physically active in terms of the number of physical activities performed, but children with cerebral palsy spend more time on each activity. Children with CP report higher activity durations in surveys, while the control group reports less. The recommendation of 60 minutes of daily physical activity is more successfully achieved by children with CP.
