Kopsavilkums

Darba tēma: Digitālo tehnoloģiju pratība vienas personas mājsaimniecībā dzīvojošajiem gados vecākiem cilvēkiem. Mērķis: Noskaidrot digitālo tehnoloģiju pratību vienas personas mājsaimniecībā dzīvojošiem gados vecākiem cilvēkiem un noskaidrot, kādi ir galvenie faktori, kas ietekmē tehnoloģiju pratību. Pētījuma metodes: Bakalaura darbā izmantoti SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe) 9. posma dati par Latviju, Lietuvu un Igauniju.
Title: Digital literacy among elderly people living in single-person households Objective: The aim of this thesis is to assess the digital technology literacy of older adults living in single-person households and to identify the main factors influencing digital literacy. Research Methods: The bachelor's thesis is based on data from the 9th wave of the SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe) project, focusing on Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Descriptive statistical methods were primarily used for data analysis and processing. Confidence intervals and Chi-square tests were calculated to determine the statistical significance of the results. Results: There were no statistically significant differences between digital literacy and gender (p=0.119). Digital literacy gradually decreases with age; in the oldest age group (75–93 years), only 22.5% (95% CI 15.0–32.1) demonstrated sufficient digital skills, and the differences are statistically significant (p<0.001). Among individuals with higher education, the proportion with sufficient digital skills was significantly higher at 74.2% (95% CI 67.3–79.9), compared to those with primary or secondary education, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.001). Respondents with higher income levels also showed a higher proportion of sufficient skills at 77.1% (95% CI 71.0–82.3), compared to those in the lower income group, with statistically significant differences (p<0.001). Furthermore, among those not receiving social support, a higher proportion—66.7% (95% CI 61.0–71.9)—demonstrated sufficient digital skills, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.001). Household composition also influences the level of digital skills: individuals living in multi-person households generally have better skills—74.5% (95% CI 71.6–77.1)—and these differences are statistically significant (p<0.001).
