Abstract
The topic of the bachelor's thesis is "Nursing Activities in the Intensive Care Unit for the Prevention of Healthcare Associated Infections". Recent research has shown that the topic is relevant, showing that around 2.5 million of healthcare associated infection cases affect European health authorities each year, with more than 90,000 fatalities. Intensive care units have a special environment in which healthcare associated infections is acquired more frequently and mortality is higher. The study is based on the analysis of scientific literature and analysis of data obtained in observation protocols. The research question is: What are the activities of nurses in the prevention of healthcare associated infections in the intensive care unit? A study on this topic helps to clarify the activities of nurses in the prevention of health-related infections in the intensive care unit. Conclusions and proposals are presented at the end of the work. The tasks of the research are to perform literature analysis on the given topic, to develop research tools - observation protocols, to process and summarize the research results and to draw conclusions and develop proposals.
