Abstract
Sleep deprivation is a prevalent and multifaceted issue with significant implications for both physicians and patients. This literature review examines the prevalence of sleep deprivation among physicians across different specialities, as well as contributing factors that can cause sleep deprivation. Furthermore, the review explores the consequences of sleep deprivation on the mental health of physicians and the potential impact of reduced medical care provided by sleep-deprived physicians. Additionally, the review discusses coping mechanisms and interventions, such as the role of organizational support, in order to minimize and prevent the causes of sleep deprivation among physicians.
