Kopsavilkums
Schizophrenia is one of the most common diseases in psychiatry. Schizophrenia is a chronic mental illness characterized by changes in thinking, perception, emotional reactions and behavior. It can start suddenly or develop gradually, most often until the age of 25. The disease usually experiences excacerbations, but there may be continuous symptoms (Ogsts, 2018). Today, the symptoms of schizophrenia can be successfully reduced by maintaining a high quality of life. There is still a lot of prejudice against mental illness in society, which makes it difficult to diagnose diseases early, because people are often afraid to seek help (Bērze, 2017). It is believed that 1% of people worldwide suffer from schizophrenia, so every hundred of us. Schizophrenia is not completely treatable - it is a severe and chronic disease whose treatment can be prolonged and difficult, yet people live with a variety of incurable diseases, learn to adapt and live with them. Even with schizophrenia, in most cases, receiving the necessary medical help and psychological support in time, you can learn to live with your illness and live a full, satisfying life - you can study, work, build relationships. Family and friends support is also important. Studies show that loneliness or intolerance from those around you makes excacerbations of the disease more common and more severe (Lasmane, 2014). Timely and properly treated disease helps to effectively reduce and prevent excacerbations of the disease and relapse cases. Relatives play an important role in the life of a patient with schizophrenia, especially during the remission of the disease, who help both in daily care and in monitoring and assessing the state of health, socialization and promotion of activities. Relatives are the ones between the patient and the doctor and the rest of the medical staff. Based on the goal of the research work to find out the attendence of relatives in the use of medication of a patient with schizophrenia during remission, the study was performed in X psychoneurological hospital. The study applied a quantitative method. A survey of relatives of schizophrenic patients was conducted with previously prepared questionnaires, which reflect compliance of relatives in the use of medication of a schizophrenic patient during remission. 80 questionnaires were issued which were completed and received back.
