Kopsavilkums
Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt praktizējošu psihologu dzīvesspēka un profesionālās dzīves kvalitātes rādītāju saistību. Pētījums balstīts uz tādiem teorētiskiem modeļiem, kā Īsā dzīvesspēka skala (The Brief Resilience Scale, BRS; Smith et al., 2008) un Profesionālās dzīves kvalitātes skala (Professional Quality of Life Scale, ProQOL; Stamm et al., 2010).
Pētījumā piedalījās 71 Latvijā praktizējošs psihologs (88,7% – sievietes), vecumā no 26 līdz 67 gadiem (M = 47,52). Dati iegūti, izmantojot elektronisku aptauju, izmantojot latviešu valodā adaptētās BRS (Freimane, 2010) un ProQOL (Circenis, 2013) skalas laika posmā no 2025. gada 6. marta līdz 7. aprīlim.
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to explore the relationship between resilience and indicators of professional quality of life among practicing psychologists. The study is based on theoretical models such as the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS; Smith et al., 2008) and the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL; Stamm et al., 2010). Previous research findings (e.g., Harker et al., Gidden et al.) indicate statistically significant relationships between resilience and components of professional quality of life. However, such relationships have not been sufficiently analyzed among psychologists, even though the issue is particularly relevant in the context of psychologists' professional well-being and sustainable work capacity. The study poses questions and tasks concerning whether there are relationships between resilience indicators and the subscale indicators of professional quality of life, as well as whether resilience predicts the indicators of compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue (burnout, secondary traumatic stress). Inclusion criteria: the participant must be registered in the Psychologists' Register, have at least one year of work experience in the relevant field, and live and work in Latvia (exclusion criteria: non-compliance with at least one condition). The study involved 71 practicing psychologists in Latvia (88.7% women), aged 26 to 67 years (M = 47.52). Data were collected via an online survey, using the Latvian-adapted versions of the BRS (Freimane, 2010) and ProQOL (Circenis, 2013) scales, during the period from March 6 to April 7, 2025. The results reveal a statistically significant positive and weak relationship between resilience and compassion satisfaction scores (r = .35; p < .01), as well as statistically significant negative and moderate relationships with burnout (r = -.57; p < .01) and secondary traumatic stress (r = -.53; p < .01). Resilience was found to be a statistically significant predictor of all three subscale scores of professional quality of life. Given that this study is one of the first to analyze professional quality of life and resilience specifically among practicing psychologists in Latvia, it provides a valuable contribution to the understanding of current issues in professional well-being within the local cultural context. The results of this study are consistent with previous research data, thereby reinforcing the theoretical relevance of the constructs of resilience and professional quality of life in the context of psychologists.
