Abstract
KOPSAVILKUMS
ABSTRACT Today emotional health of a person is particularly topical subject. Misophonia is a condition in which a patient develops a severe negative emotional response to certain “trigger” sounds. Such reaction may consist of anxiety, anger, aggression, especially towards the person who is generating these sounds. Therefore, misophonia has a negative effect on the quality of life of the patient, making socialization more difficult, preventing the development of good relations with family members. However, not every patient with misophonia comes to a specialist for help. Misophonia as a problem isn't well known to the society, so many people think that such an emotional response to “trigger” sounds is associated with poor parenting or intolerance. The goal of the research is to analyze available facts about the theories of etiology of misophonia and proposed types of treatment. Methods: Examination of scientific and special literature, survey and analysis of various theories of aetiology of misophonia is the research method of this study. Conclusions of the research: misophonia is a disorder of emotional nature. Its etiology is linked to patients' life experience. Different studies have shown moderately close asociations between misophonia and mental disorders. Neurophysiological data from different studies have shown increased activity in lymbic system structures and the sympathetic nervous system.
