The aim of the study is to investigate how demographic and socio-economic factors of an individual affect pregnant women 's knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with maternal group B hemolytic streptococcal colonization and prescribed antimicrobial therapy during childbirth. Various world studies show that women's knowledge of the subject is weak. (Giles et.al., 2019) While working in the maternity ward, the author observes women's misunderstanding about the meaning, etiology, risks and the need for antibacterial prevention of GBS. A 2020 study in Saudi Arabia shows that women's educational attainment, age and number of pregnancies / births affect their level of knowledge and attitudes. (Alshengeti et.al., 2020) The author uses quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, comparative research. This type of design ensures the fulfillment of the research goal, tests the hypothesis. The study involved pregnant women living in Latvia who have reached at least 18 years of age and their gestation period is at least 37 weeks. Total number of respondents = 100. The results of the study showed that pregnant women 's knowledge of group B hemolytic streptococcus is influenced by socio - demographic factors such as education level and age.
