Abstract
Aptaujāti 144 cilvēki, no tiem 79
The theme of the qualification paper is Oral health features in people with celiac disease. The research topic is as relevant as ever. Due to the fact that medicine is very advanced in technology and continues to develop, more and more gluten intolerance or celiac disease is increasingly being diagnosed. Today, the disease is constantly affecting not only on children and young people, but also on adults, as celiac disease can occur at any age. Often people do not pay enough attention to the atypical symptoms of celiac disease, so dentists and dental hygienists can become the first to detect the disease by careful examination of the oral mucosa, teeth and periodontal tissue. The aim of this study is to investigate the peculiarities of oral health in patients with celiac disease. With the help of available scientific literature and a survey, the author looks at the peculiarities of oral health in people with and without celiac disease. 144 people are interviewed, 79 of them with and 65 without gluten intolerance. The study concludes that people with celiac disease were more likely to have oral diseases and experience changes in the structure of their teeth.
