Abstract
Studentu pētnieciskais darbs rakstīts latviešu valodā, to veido ievads, 5 daļas un secinājumi. Darba apjoms ir 37 lpp., tajā iekļauts 1 attēls. Izmantotās literatūras un avotu sarakstā ietverti 129 avoti angļu valodā.
The name of the research paper is “Influence of the ICU environment on sleep quality in patients. A literature review.” The aim of the paper is to evaluate the influence of the ICU environment on the sleep quality of patients, based on the available literature. Part 1 of the paper describes sleep, sleep stages and consequences of bad sleep. Part 2 consists of an overview of the most common sleep quality assessment methods. Part 3 looks on previous research on the topic made from year 2000 to year 2017. Part 4 describes environmental factors, that interfere with sleep in the ICU, the impact of those factors on health, the causes; research papers found on Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science from 2017 to 2021 are analyzed. Part 5 describes the possibilities to improve the environmental factors in the ICU, argues about the necessity to do research on this topic in Latvia and lists the limitations of the paper. The most important conclusions for the research paper are as follows: The noise level in the ICU is well over the recommended level by the WHO and it affects the quality of sleep for the ICU patients, but this factor is modifiable; Light level effect on sleep quality is not convincing; Influence of the ICU environment is a perspective topic for research, including Latvia, where papers on this topic are not available. Student’s research paper is written in Latvian, and it consists of an introduction, 5 parts and conclusions. The paper consists of 37 pages and contains 1 figure. The list of literature and sources used includes 129 sources in English.
