Abstract
This article is an examination of the different occupational hazards for surgeons. The profession of a surgeon has always been challenging. The general public is unaware of this professions’ danger. Surgeons experience just the same kinds of occupational dangers as other professions, despite significant variations in their physical, psychological and instrumentation contexts. However, what emerges from the populations’ incomplete picture of their danger at work, shell here be reviewed. Although the conventional hazards of other occupations, surgeons face other dangers, such as the increased risk of infections, increased exposure to noise, smoke, or chemicals. Surgeons might be unconscious of the hazardous environment they are daily working in. Some of the exposures are masked and may only lead to a delayed outcome after long-time exposure (e.g., a psychological burden or radiation). Other exposures may be very obvious to their threat such as scalpels, sharp instruments, or needles, and can cause immediate danger. The combination of an immense variety of hazards is the challenge of this review to be estimated and demonstrated.
