Abstract
The aim of the Bachelor's Work Themes “Foreign Investment in Latvia: Challenges and Development perspectives” is to explore foreign investments and their environment in Latvia in order to find out what challenges companies are facing or on the contrary, find out how foreign companies are prepared to make their investments in Latvia. Based on two types of studies on the foreign investment environment in Latvia, factors that have negative impact on the investment environment were analysed and whether the Latvian investment environment has a perspective in the future. The statistical data for the period 2013-2019 is used for analysis. The study concluded analysis of cases during which an approach on the attractiveness of the business and investment environment was studied and analysed. The study concluded that the main factors contributing to investment, which also create prospects for the future and attract investment, are a friendly tax policy, particularly within special economic zones; strategically good geographical location; one of the cheapest workforces in Europe and Latvia is a Member State for a number of important institutions, such as, the OECD. On the other hand, the development of the investment environment is negatively affected by a lack of high-quality labour force, unfair competition, uncertainty in the financial sector, shadow economy and tax policy.
