Abstract
Lumbar disc herniation is most common in people with an average age of 41. It is believed to be more common in males than females with the prevalence of 57% versus 43% according to the Spine Patient Outcomes Research Trial. The typical mechanism of a herniated disk may be due to gradual degeneration of the disk with aging or injury due to a fall or slip or a car accident. It can be also due to occupational issues in professional drivers (taxi, bus, and truck) where individuals are subjected to high-intensity vibration during their workday. Whole-body vibrations, that affect humans occur in working life when an employee is standing, sitting, or lying on a vibrating surface. This type of vibration occurs in e.g., buses, trains, construction machinery, aircraft, ships, etc. Whole-body vibration is transmitted to the whole body, and it has been established as a factor that causes numerous symptoms and disorders such as LBP, HAVS, reproductive disorders, and gastrointestinal distress. It may affect the vision as well, induce hearing loss due to noise, mental exhaustion as seen by decreased performance on cognitive tests, reduce concentration when driving, and as well as drowsiness.
