Abstract
Bakalaura darba tēmas nosaukums ir “Šausmu filmu žanra izmantojums “Netflix” piedāvātajos seriālos”. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt un analizēt “Netflix” šausmu filmu žanra seriālus, veicot to pamata iezīmju un tendenču apkopojumu.
Darba teorētiskajā daļā ir aprakstīti jēdzieni, kas saistās ar izvēlēto tēmu. Aplūkots seriāla jēdziens un vēsture, izmaiņas mediju vidē, parādoties straumēšanas platformām, platformas “Netflix” vēsture un ietekme uz mediju patērētājiem, žanrs – žanra teorija, šausmu žanra vēsture un šausmu filmu žanram raksturīgās iezīmes, kā arī kino valodas – stilistiskie un naratīva – elementi, pēc kuriem veidoti analīzes kodi.
Pētnieciskajā daļā, izmantojot kvalitatīvo kontentanalīzi, tiek veikta piecu “Netflix” šausmu filmu žanra seriālu analīze. Analīzei izvēlētie seriāli ir “Spokošanās Kalna mājā” (“The Haunting of Hill House”), “Spokošanās Blajas muižā” (“The Haunting of Bly Manor”), “Marianne” (“Marianne”), “Melnā vasara” (“Black Summer”) un “Dīvainas lietas” (“Stranger Things”).
Diskusijas daļā veikts pētījuma rezultātu apkopojums un diskusija par to saistību ar teorētisko daļu. Darba noslēgumā veikti secinājumi un priekšlikumi par darba uzlabošanu un darbā skartās tēmas tālāku attīstīšanu.
The title of the bachelor thesis is “The use of horror genre in “Netflix” series”. The aim of the thesis is to research and analyse “Netflix” horror series, compiling the main characteristics and tendencies. The theoretical part consists of concepts, that are related to the theme of the thesis. The definition and history of series, changes, that streaming platforms have brought in the media field, the history of “Netflix” and its effect on media consumers, genre – genre theory, the history and characteristics of horror genre, as well as cinematic – stylistic and narrative – elements, which are used as the basis for analytic codes, are all described in the theoretical part. The research part consists of the analysis of five “Netflix” horror series, using qualitative content analysis. The series chosen for the analysis are: “The Haunting of Hill House”, “The Haunting of Bly Manor”, “Marianne”, “Black Summer” and “Stranger Things”. The discussion part consists of summarization of the results, as well as a discussion about the relation between the results and theoretical part. The conclusion of the thesis contains the findings of the study and suggestions for further development of the thesis.
