Abstract
One of the most common problems today is parasitic infections. They are often treated by phytotherapy, which uses various forms of herbal compositions, one of which is tea. There are many phenol compounds in some plants, and several of them have a wide range of therapeutic effects, including antiparasitic activity. The aim of this work was to study the total phenolic content in two different forms of antiparasitic plant compositions – teas with a new created recipe and in the form of bolus pressed herbs using raw materials harvested in 2017 and 2019 years. The content of phenolic compounds was determined using the Modified Prussian Blue Assay for Total Phenols, the results were expressed as grams gallic acid equivalent in 100 grams sample (dry weight). The highest amount of phenolic compounds was found in the form of bolus pressed herbs using raw materials from 2019. The major losses of phenol compounds observed in components of antiparasitic teas stored for two years, therefore it should be concluded that phenol compounds in the components of bolus are more stable than in the tea components.
