Abstract
Lifetime prevalence of lower back pain is estimated to range among 60-75%. It has been observed that lower back pain was most common among nurses and medical secretaries. High body mass index, advanced age, lack of regular exercise, monotonous work, or working longer than four hours standing were found to be risk factors increasing lower back pain risk. Psychosocial risk factors are related to developing chronic lower back pain. There are sufficient scientific bases to conclude that lower back pain can be successfully prevented and treated.
