Abstract
A literature review about occupational hand eczema with the aim to address the issue of hand eczema as an occupational skin condition in healthcare workers and discuss the various aetiologies and prevalence in different fields within and outside of healthcare. As hypothesis for the review was formulated that prevalence of occupational hand eczema is higher in surgeons and surgical nurses compared with other healthcare workers. The hypothesis gets affirmation by one study found about the prevalence in different healthcare fields that concluded that clinically significant contact dermatitis was more common in subjects working in surgical fields.
