Abstract
Kopsavilkums
ABSTRACT Background With a great range of motion, the glenohumeral articulation, or simply the shoulder joint, is one of the most complex joints of the human body. Due to its complex and various anatomical structures, the shoulder joint is prone to an increased risk of trauma. Therefore, the correct diagnostic imaging method is essential for understanding of the injury, the management, and the right treatment plan. Aim of the thesis The understanding of possible shoulder joint injuries, especially in sports trauma and the radiological diagnostic with different imaging methods, from newly published and scientifically acknowledged articles, which are not older than 10 years. Task of the thesis 1) To have an overview on the different radiological diagnostic methods. 2) Mechanism of shoulder sports trauma, what radiology is able to observe. 3) To find advantages and disadvantages of radiological methods of shoulder injury and why and when they are used. Material and methods used The review criteria used, included 30 different articles, published on scientific medical websites, in the past 10 years. Through the RSU e-library access has been gained to Ovid Walters Kluwer, British medical journal, Proquest, Science direct, Wiley online library and Sage Journals. The research of articles was aided by using related keywords regarding my topic, which are previously specified. Conclusion In case of shoulder injury, radiologic imaging is the most important diagnostic tool to establish a correct diagnosis, preoperative planning and the right treatment plan for the patient. To ensure the right treatment for patients, radiological assessment, experience and expertise knowledge are needed.
