Abstract
Darba autore: Krista Krasucka.
Pētījumā piedalījās 172 respondenti no Kurzemes reģiona vecumā no 18 līdz 70 gadiem, no kuriem 56% (N 97) bija no pilsētām savukārt 44% (N 75) aptaujāto no laukiem.
Bachelor’s paper topic: “Satisfaction of urban and rural residents with primary health care and availability” Author: Krista Krasucka Purpose of the study: Identify and compare the satisfaction and accessibility of primary health care based on urban and rural residents. Study hypothesis: The urban population is are satisfied with the primary health care and it’s accessibility than the rural population. The patient has always been at the heart of health care, so it is important to find out the patient’s views on the health service they receive. Previously, studies have been carried out on patient satisfaction with health care as a basis for further development of strategies and reforms in the health care system. Study design - non-experimental quantitative comparative cross-sectionstudy. The research work uses a questionnaire based on the study “Study on patient satisfaction with the quality of health care services” (Putniņa un Brants, 2018). The study involved 172 respondents from Kurzeme region aged 18 - 70, of whom 56% (N 97) were from urban areas, while 44% (N 75) were from rural areas. Main results and conclusion of the study. The family doctor is visited more frequently by the rural population, as in the last year, 22% of people living in rural areas and only 5% of those living in urban areas have visited the family doctor. The study showed that the availability of the service was judged worse by the city residents, as 6% of those surveyed from cities described it as “very poor”, but those living in the countryside did not provide such an assessment. With the possibility of visiting the family doctor in their preferred time, 22% of urban residents and 17% of rural residents were unsatisfied. Also with the length of the waiting period till the appointment, urban area residents were less satisfied (25% dissatisfied). In general, however, the services provided by a family doctor have been positively assessed in both rural and urban areas as being “very good” by 36% in rural and 44% in urban areas, as “rather good” 47% in rural and 47% in urban areas. This study can serve as a basis for reforms of the health care system, as it points to shortcomings in healthcare. The study was conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has had a significant impact on the organization of the healthcare system, and therefore the results of the study may form the basis for further studies on the effects of Covid-19 on the health care system.
