Abstract
Respondentu vecums variēja no 22 līdz 71 gadam, vidējais vecums – 47,20 gadi.
Bakalaura darbs sastāv no 58 lappusēm, 6 pielikumiem, 5 attēliem, 24 tabulām, 22 literatūras avotiem.
Healthcare professionals are exposed daily to the risk of injury with sharp objects that can pose a risk of becoming infected. Biological agents that pose a threat to the workers health include hepatitis B and C, HIV/AIDS and other potentially dangerous viruses and micro-organisms. The aim of the study is to identify and compare the compliance with prevention measures, the frequency and risk factors of injuries to nurses from two medical institutions and the frequency of reporting the injuries. A quantitative, non-experimental cross-section comparative study was conducted to achieve the objective of the study. In line with the aim of the study, an instrument created by the author was used: a questionnaire consisting of the demographic profile of respondents, compliance with the prevention measures for sharp injuries, sharp injuries and risk factors. The study included 248 health-care nurses from different profiles in X and Y health institutions. The age of respondents ranged from 22 to 71 years, with an average age of 47,20 years. The study results show that most nurses follow preventive measures to avoid injuries from sharp objects, also 50% of nurses have had injuries with sharp objects. Of the 124 nurses who have been injured by sharp objects, 45 nurses have reported injuries to their employer about the injury, but 35 nurses have drafted an act of injuring themselves with sharp objects in the workplace. The bachelor's work consists of 58 pages, 6 attachments, 5 figures, 24 tables, 22 literature sources.
