Abstract
Darba nosaukums: Ziemas peldēšanas ietekme uz veselību: darbības jomas pārskats.
Bakalaura darba autors: Reinis Līviņš, Rehabilitācijas fakultātes profesionālās bakalaura
studiju programmas “Fizioterapija” 4. studiju gada students.
swimming, health, using benefits, adults un pielietojot operatorus AND un OR.
Title: Winter Swimming Effect on Health: A Scoping Review. Author of bachelour thesis: Reinis Līviņš, 4th year student of the study program "Physiotherapy" of the Faculty of Rehabilitation. Background: Winter swimming has a long tradition in northern countries. Although there are certain risks associated with ice swimming, scientific studies provide information on the health effects of swimming in cold water. Question of study: What is the effect of regular winter swimming on a swimmer's health? Aim of the study: collect and analyze the scientific publications available in the literature in the period from 2012 to 2022 in order to describe, using the IFC structure, the impact of winter swimming on the health of an adult. Research methods: the search for publications was carried out in databases - PubMed, ClinicalKey, ScienceDirect, using keywords winter swimming, cold swimming, wild swimming, health, using benefits, adults and using boolean operators AND and OR. Research results: 6 publications were included in the scope review. Two publications indicated the effect of winter swimming on a person's health in general: firstly, the positive effect on a person's mental functions and depression, secondly, another publication described the negative effect of long-term regular winter swimming on the cardiovascular system. Three publications emphasized the positive effect of winter swimming on body functions - thermoregulation, protective function, mental functions. Two publications indicated the beneficial effect of winter swimming on the swimmer's body structure - blood count indicators, body composition indicators. Conclusions: Winter swimming can affect a person's health both positively and negatively. In most cases, the results of the analyzed studies indicate the short-term effects of winter swimming on the functions and structures of a person's body. There are only some studies that have studied the effect of regular winter swimming on a person's state of health - morbidity in the long term. Keywords: winter swimming, cold swimming, wild swimming, health, adults.
