Abstract
To epidemioloģija uzrāda pārsteidzošas atšķirības ģeogrāfiskajos reģionos.
CNS infections are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Their epidemiology shows striking differences in geographic regions. These infections can be caused by a variety of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. The current situation of CNS pathogens reveals new pathogens, changes in their prevalence, and outbreaks of infections that contribute to the complexity of these infections. Changes in antibacterial resistance pose challenges to the health care system. The global increase of antibiotic resistance poses a significant threat, reducing the effectiveness of commonly used antibiotics against common bacterial infections. The aim of this work is to describe the novelties regarding the initiating agents of CNS infections, to investigate their prevalence and tendencies related to antibacterial resistance of CNS infections. In the course of this research, scientific literature was selected and analyzed, including publications and books in such databases as: PubMed, ClinicalKey, Access Medicine and ScienceDirect. Keywords used: most common CNS infections, pathogens, new cases, outbreaks, epidemiology, antibacterial resistance.
