Abstract
Temporomandibular disorders are disorders of the musculoskeletal system that consists of clinical complaints related to the temporomandibular joint, masticatory muscles and related orofacial structures that can cause common pain in the orofacial region. Bruxism is one of the main causes of myofascial pain - in the masticatory muscles. The psychoemotional effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the current energy crisis have increased the stress level among the population and the number of patients with tooth wear and pain in the masticatory muscles is increasing. Studies have reported that due to psychosocial factors, stress can be a major factor in causing bruxism. Although many methods are available to treat bruxism, there is no clear consensus on the most effective and beneficial treatment for patients. Recently, an increasing number of studies on botulotoxin (BTX) have demonstrated its therapeutic effect in the treatment of myofascial pain caused by TMD. The aim of this study was to find out the effectiveness of BTX injections.
