Abstract
Fluororganiskos savienojumus plaši izmanto rūpniecībā un patēriņa precēs. Sākot tos izmantot, jau bija zināms, ka tie nelabvēlīgi ietekmē veselību, tomēr patēriņa precēs bija maz ierobežojumu to lietošanai. Daudzu gadu desmitu pētījumi ir dokumentējuši to īstermiņa ietekmi. Tie ir polimēru dūmu drudža izraisītāji, ieelpojot politetrafluoretilēna pirolīzes produktus, papildus bioakumulācijas potenciālam cilvēkos dažādu iedarbības veidu dēļ, kas izraisa ilgtermiņa nelabvēlīgu ietekmi uz veselību. Dažās jomās kaitējuma pierādījumi ir ļāvuši ierobežot fluora organisko savienojumu izmantošanu, piemēram, slēpošanas vaskā un cepamo pannu virsmas slānī. Kaut gan šos ierobežojumus ES stingri neievēro, un pastāvīgi tiek izstrādāti un tirgū izlaisti jauni ķīmiskie sastāvi, kas apgrūtina noteikumu izpildi. Runājot par polimēru dūmu drudža atšķiršanu no citām elpceļu slimībām, kā arī iespējamām ārstēšanas metodēm, pētījumu rezultāti ir daudzsološi, taču ir nepieciešami papildu pētījumi.
Organofluorine compounds are widely used in industrial settings, and in consumer products. When introduced in the marked it was already known to cause adverse health effects, however there were few restrictions of it usage in consumer products. Research over many decades have documented its short-term effect being the causative factor for polymer fume fever when inhaling pyrolysis products of polytetrafluoroethylene, in addition to the potential of bioaccumulation in humans through different types of exposure which cause long-term adverse health effects. In some domains, the evidence of harm have made way for restrictions of the usage of organofluorine compounds such as in ski wax and surface layer of frying pans. Although, these restrictions are not enforced strictly by the EU, and there are new chemical compositions constantly being developed and released in the market, making the regulations difficult to enforce. As for distinguishing polymer fume fever from other respiratory illnesses, as well as possible treatments, the research results are promising but additional research is needed.
