Abstract
(Kinet, 2021).
Pētījumā dalībnieki – sešas sievietes sportistes, sertificētas fitnesa treneres, vecumā no

The qualification work was developed by Krista Sokolovska, a 3rd-year student of the “Health and Sports Specialist” program of the Riga Stradins University, Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare, supervisor Jānis Leitis, lecturer, Department of Sports and Nutrition. The topic of the qualification work is “The role of the diet plan and habits in the health changes of a female athlete while preparing for fitness and bodybuilding competitions”. The purpose of the work is to study and compare the diet diaries of female athletes, to evaluate changes in the health of female athletes while preparing for fitness and bodybuilding competitions. Research questions raised by the work: what are the nutritional habits of female athletes, feelings in the process of training and competition preparation, how the nutritional habits of female athletes affect their health after the competition, based on the elements of the female triad in fitness. Every year, the Latvian Federation of Bodybuilding, Fitness and Bodyfitness organizes competitions in bikini fitness. Their purpose is to promote and develop an interest in the sport of bodybuilding, fitness and bodyfitness and to promote a healthy way of life and conditions. Despite the participants' significant fitness gains and visual effects in physiological sports, the athletic body composition characteristics of successful female athletes suggest that this population may be at particular risk for the development of disordered eating, including female triad symptoms in fitness athletes (Kinet, 2021). The participants in the study are six female athletes who are certified fitness trainers aged between 18 and 45 years. The inclusion criteria were female athletes, in any age group, who regularly engage in sports and regularly attend training sessions, and who participated in competitions organized by the “Latvijas Bodybuilding, Fitness and Bodyfitness Federation”, laureates of fitness and bodybuilding competitions, able to communicate and write in Latvian. A diet diary for one day during the preparation period for fitness and bodybuilding competitions was obtained from the participants of the study, as well as the data from the questionnaire about the well-being of female athletes after the competition in the context of nutritional habits and training regimes were collected. Participating in and preparing for fitness and bodybuilding competitions has consequences on the body and well-being of female athletes, with changes in the hormonal system, resulting in the appearance of the female triad in fitness. Key words: “sports nutrition,” “female athlete triad,” “female fitness competitors,” “eating disorders,” “bodybuilding diet.”
