Abstract
Introduction: Aligners are nowadays a modern, fast-growing and highly valued method of tooth movement. They are able to provide a clearer picture of how patients teeth will look after treatment. Distalizing molars may require a lot of time or additional mechanics for treatment planning. Objectives: To find the actuality of tooth distalization and to evaluate in a pilot study the acquisition of measurements of the selected layering program 3D Slicer for tooth movements with aligners. Materials and methods: The study included 10 patients (7 women, 3 men), in the age group from 18 to 44 years. The 3D Slicer program was used, where two maxillary digital tooth models of patient were layered (before treatment and during treatment) and molar region was studied in three points - mesio buccal ridge (MB P), mesio buccal groove (MB R) and disto buccal ridge (MD P) . Results: MD P changes occurred at a point of 1.55mm (0.59 - 2.5) distalization. The smallest changes were in MB R point 1.34mm (0.80 - 1.89) of distalization. On average, the amount of distalization in all points was 1.43 mm. Conclusions: Aligners are capable of distalizing molars by an average of 1.4 mm.
