Abstract
Aptuveni 5-10% sieviešu visā pasaulē cieš no endometriozes.
About 5-10 % of women worldwide have endometriosis. It is a chronic disease without a definitive treatment, interfering with physical, mental and social health in these affected women. This research paper is focusing on identifying and defining the impact of endometriosis on women’s health, by collecting and reviewing relevant scientific articles related to endometriosis. The main focus is on the three aspects of health; physical-, mental- and social health. Endometriosis is affecting many parameters of life. In this research it is shown that endometriosis has an impact on parameters as work ability, fertility, relationships, especially intimate relationships, mental health with increased risk of anxiety and depression, and physical health with increased risk of symptoms of pain, fatigue and dyspareunia. It can be concluded that endometriosis has an impact on both physical, mental and social health in women, and can often lead to a lower quality of life.
