Abstract
Title: Systematic review: Face kinesiology taping use in improving oromotor skills for children. Aim: Systematically summarize and analyze studies describing face kinesiology taping use in improving oromotor skills for children. Methods: Systematic search of the PubMed, Science Direct, EBSCO Host, Cochrane Library databases were conducted. Studies of interventions about kinesiology taping use in improving oromotor skills for children was identified. Studies were evaluated using PEDro scale. After evaluation, the obteined data was quantitative analyzed of the to form conclusions. Results: Following the selection results, the systematic review includes three studies. Using the PEDro scale, all studies were determined to be of high quality. The interventions identified in all 3 studies were also similar, but the oromotor exercises used in the treatment and their intensity as the time of the intervention were different. The interventions identified in the studies were oromotor stimulation and oromotor, intraoral massage, which were combined with kinesiology taping or kinesiology taping as only treatment. The Thomas Stonell and Greenberg salivation severity scale and salivation frequency were used as evaluation tools in all studies. Conclusion: Kinesiology taping in combination with oromotor therapy shows more effective results in improving oromotor skills in children than either method alone. Kinesiology taping is effective in improving salivation rate, salivation frequency and severity, and salivation impact scale results.
