Abstract
Pētījumā piedalījās 183 respondenti, vecumā no 18 līdz 67gadiem.
Astract According to World Health Organization, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women. In 2018 570,000 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer world wide and about 311,000 women died from this disease. Studies show that women have significant knowledge gaps about cervical cancer and its prevention, which means that the cancer is diagnosed at a late stage and doctors cannot save women'slives, leading to high mortality rate from the cancer. The research was carried out with the aim to find out women's knowledge and attitude towards cervical cancer prevention measures. In its theoretical part, research on this topic was considered. In the practical part, the obtained data are analyzed and conclusions are developed based on data analysis. Research question: What are women's knowledge and attitudes towards cervical cancer prevention measures? Inorder to obtaindatathatare relevant in Latvia - thestudydeveloped a tooldevelopedbytheauthor - a questionnaire. Research is quantitative. A cross-sectional comparative design isused for the research. There search in volved 183 respondents aged 18 to 67 years. Data processing was performed with Microsoft Excel program. The results of the study show that despite the positive attitude towards the prevention of cervical cancer, women have knowledge gaps about the disease in general, about the symptoms of the disease, influencing factors, as well as the possibilities of prevention measures in Latvia. Respondents were divided into three age groups from 18 to 24 years, from 25 to 50 years, from 51 to 67 years. Comparing women's knowledge between age groups, it can be concluded that the highest awareness is in the first age group among women aged 18 to 24, but the lowest awareness is among women in the third age group aged 51 to 67. Attitude towards cervical cancer prevention actions is about the same level among women in the first and second age groups, but worse among women aged 51 to 67 years.
