Abstract
The subject of the bachelor’s thesis “Visitors’ Opinion on Communicative and Educational Aspects of Nurse’s Work in General Practitioner’s Practice” was selected based on research, which has proved the importance of communication and education in health care. The purpose of this study is to determine visitors’ opinion on the communicative and educational aspects of nurse’s work in general practitioner’s practice. Research questions: “What is the visitors’ opinion on communicative and educational aspects of nurse’s work in general practitioner’s practice?” and “Are there statistically significant differences in the opinions of visitors?” The study was conducted by surveying general practitioner’s visitors. In total, 207 adult persons of different gender and age categories partook in the survey by expressing their opinion while answering the questions asked. Tools used in the study: a questionnaire created by the author. The result was obtained based on summarized statistical data. The study found that 37% of respondents had multimorbidity, which statistically significantly affects the frequency of visiting the general practitioner. The process of communication is mostly rated positively. Although the visitors’ opinion on the process of communication is statistically significantly different. Patients with multimorbidity and over the age of 65 show a more positive evaluation of communication. The opinion on the educational process concerning a spectrum of different issues and health promotion is generally positive in all age groups, although some negative aspects have been observed: demonstrations and “one sheet instruction” methods are rarely used. The practical application of this study is tied to the necessity of general practitioner’s practice nurses to pay more attention to building positive communication. More time needs to be devoted to educational aspects by using practical demonstrations and written instruction methods. Nurses need to consider the age, gender and existence of multimorbidity to educate according to the patient’s cognitive abilities.
