The need for well-prepared charity sisters emerged due to expanding range of medical activities. Consequently, this caused the need to establish sisters’ schools in Latvia. In 1921 charity sisters’ schools were established in Riga and Liepaja, in 1932 the school was established in Jelgava. Later on, in 1939 two more charity sisters’ schools in Riga started their work. However, the demand for charity sisters was growing. The lack of charity sisters was obvious in Daugavpils medical institutions, too. In 1939 the only Latgalian charity sisters’ school was opened in the city to solve that vital problem. That school in Daugavpils worked from 1939 to 1943. During that particular period of time two graduations of educated charity sisters took place. In 1943 the school stopped functioning because of the war situation. This article aims at performing analytical overview of foundation activities of Daugavpils Charity Sisters’ School.Item Dzīves kvalitāte un tās saistība ar stresoriem pansionāta iedzīvotājiem Latvijā(Rēzeknes Tehnoloģiju akadēmija, 2018) Deklava, Liana; Apsite, Monta; Millere, Inga; Fokina, Olga; Lubkina, Velta; Šneidere, Kristīne; Ušča, Svetlana; Rīga Stradiņš UniversityThere is a lot of talk about global aging in society and, as people start to live longer, the society has to take care about their well- being in old age too. When becoming a grown-up, a person prefers eating the favoriteand habitual food.It depends only on a person’s own choice to observe the basic laws of the healthy eating and keeping to them and in this way to support own health. As opposed to healthy, balanced, diversified, regular and sufficient amount of food there are the strategies that can cause eating disorders if to follow them. Among such disorders might be neurotic anorexia, neurotic bulimia, compulsive overeating and other unspecified eating disorders. The prevalence of eating disorders nowadays is connected with the influence of increased stress, an enlarged information load, an awareness of modernbeauty standards as a result, eating disorders risks are increasing. Prompt information and provision of knowledge for teachers, parents and students on eating disorders prevalence, manifestation and the importance of timely recognition for successful treatment is the most important element of preventive measures. The topicality of the research on eating disorders among students is justified by the fact that the early detection of students’ eating disorders can promote timely recognition of the problem andthe beginning of treatment reducing serious physical and psychological complications and even fatal cases. The primary goal of this research was to find out eating disorders risks among the 12thgrade students. The second goal was to determine eating disorders risks among the 12thgrade students due to the gender differences of students. To gain the results of the research the quantitative research methodwith the research tool –EAT-26 test (Garneret al.,1982) was used. Two hundreds of the 12thgrade students were involved into the research as respondents. The results of the survey show that the 5thpart of the respondents have got eating disorders risks indicators. There are statistically significant differences between men and women (р<0.001)Item Malnutrīcija gados veco cilvēku vidū un tās saistība ar trauksmi un depresiju(Rēzeknes Tehnoloģiju akadēmija, 2020-05-20) Deklava, Liāna; Vilka, Lolita; Millere, Inga; Fokina, Olga; Lubkina, Velta; Kaupužs, Aivars; Znotiņa, Daina; Rīga Stradiņš UniversityElderly research suggests inappropriate food intake as a one of the health issue. There were 27.44% of participants with malnutrition risk and45.10%withsigns of anxiety. Depression symptoms were detected 60.78% of respondents. Within the research sample, a statistically significant relationship between malnutrition and depression was found (r = 0.302, p< 0.01).Prevention of malnutrition and theearly detection of depression among seniors will contribute to the improvement of the quality of their life and quality of health careItem Priestera Vincenta de Paula žēlsirdīgo māsu apvienības darbība Latgalē (1789–1864)(Rīgas Stradiņa universitāte, 2016) Fokina, Olga; Millere, Inga; Rīgas Stradiņa universitāteOlgas Fokinas un Ingas Milleres pētījums “Priestera Vincenta de Paula apvienības žēlsirdīgās māsas un viņu darbība Latgalē (1789-1864)” veltīts interesantai tēmai, t. i., autores analizējušas, kā vairāku gadsimtu gaitā veidojusies medicīnas māsas profesija, t. sk. : Sisters of Charity Training on the Latvian Territory in the 19th Century(Rēzeknes Augstskola, 2015) Fokina, Olga; Millere, Inga; Circenis, Kristaps; Deklava, Liana; Lubkina, Velta; Ušča, Svetlana; Rīga Stradiņš UniversityIn 1772 Daugavpils(Dyneburg) was incorporated into the Russian Empire and remained the main city of the province of Daugavpils.
